Hello WOWBUTTER.
Since trying WOWBUTTER it has become one of the family staples, and a best friend for our peanut free nut free family. Eliana absolutely loves it in her sandwiches and I love it too! One of our favorite sandwich combinations is our WOWBUTTER Banana Split Sandwich. On a piece of whole wheat bread I spread WOWBUTTER, sliced bananas, sliced strawberries and sprinkle it with Enjoy Life Foods mini chocolate chips. Delicious!
So how does this soy "nut" butter compare to peanut butter?
Stacking up peanut butter (Skippy creamy peanut butter for example) next to WOWBUTTER you can see that they both have the same amount of protein: 7 grams in 2 Tablespoons.
However WOWBUTTER's soy "nut" butter has 4 grams of dietary fiber in comparison to Skippy's 2 grams. And WOWBUTTER has Omega 6 and Omega 3 essential oils, while peanut butter does not.
I am not saying that one is better than the other, but I am saying that as a peanut free alternative/substitution it is one of the great options out there.
Each jar of WOWBUTTER also has peanut free stickers underneath the label for you to use if you want to label your lunch. We honestly haven't used as many labels, but I do like having them. Eliana sits at the peanut free/nut free table AND she is allergic to peanuts and nuts, so there would be no chance of me sending peanut butter (or any nut butter) into school with her. So for those two reasons we haven't used many labels. However I do think these labels would work great to label a lunch during a field trip, or on a classroom snack. I also think they would be perfect for kids who do not have an allergy and wants to sit at the peanut free table!
For example, the other day Eliana was in school and two of her friends wanted to sit with her at the peanut free table (insert an {awwww} because that is so sweet!) Eliana is the only one in her classroom with a peanut/nut allergy so during lunch she ends up sitting with kids from other classes at the peanut free table.
Sadly though one of her friends had peanut butter in his lunch and was asked to leave the table by the staff. Eliana told me later she was nervous that he had peanut butter (and claimed she needed to wear her allergy bracelet to school every day then), but also wished he could have sat with them. I had to assure her that no one with peanut butter can stay at that table. For the safety of all the kids at that table that rule does need to stay enforced. So for kids without an allergy who decide they do want to be at the peanut free table AND they have a peanut free/nut free lunch, this label would be very useful for the lunchroom staff.
Since I had no peanut butter cookie recipes that I have ever baked I went searching for a recipe to try. And I found the perfect cookie recipe on picky palate. Chocolate Chunk
I always use an ice cream scoop to get uniformed shaped cookies. Plus I like the size: huge.
And believe me when I say you'll need a tall glass of milk (or dairy free option)
with these cookies. They are so fudgy!
So you should know that I consider my favorite oatmeal chocolate chunk cookies healthy because well.. there are oats in them.. and oats are good for you... So you can see why these cookies are extra good for you! Chocolate = Antioxidants. Soy "nut" butter = Protein, fiber and Omega essential oils... I think you can clearly see that these cookies are good for you in many ways. ;)
Hubby brought in some of these cookies to his work and no one guessed they were made with soy "nut" butter. And no one in my family guessed either! Even those who claimed not to like the soy "nut" butter in the first place. HA!! I would say the only negative to baking with WOWBUTTER is that you go through it much faster--and we don't like that! :)
All in all we are loving WOWBUTTER as a peanut free alternative!
I just wish the stores around us carried it!!

I'm glad you did a review of this. I personally can't stand Sunbutter (sorry lovers of it), so was curious how this stacked up. And those cookies look AMAZING! Yum!
ReplyDeleteThank you Sarah!!! Let me know how you like it when you try it!! :)
DeleteI am in Canada, but I found it at Coscto :)
ReplyDeleteooo I don't have a Coscto membership but I could check there!
DeleteI Luh-uh-LOVE WOWButter! Ever since my hubby brought it home from the local grocery store, and it was almost half the price of the almond butter, and came in, Thank you, God, a plastic jar. The kids had just broken the nearing $8 glass jar of 12 oz almond butter when my husband was at the store and called to say he found this "new" product. Boy, am I behind times. But I too, noticed it disappeared quite a bit faster...what, with everyone eating it and all.=) I still haven't had a chance to make the WOWButter cookies (like Peanut Butter, but with the little criss-cross fork pattern on top....Hmm...I may need a cookie stamp that says "Made with WOWButter =D ). But CostCo? I'll have to check! We have a membership!
DeleteTarget and Loblaws in Canada carries it. Just wished it as in a bigger tub like normal PB. These cookies were awesome with the WOW butter and my daycare children LOVED them!
