Celebrate Earth Day with this fun lunch!
Earth Day is coming up on Sunday and Eliana and I made a creative and fun lunch to celebrate Mother Earth :) This lunch was very simple to make and Eliana LOVED it!
The Earth is a chicken and cheese sandwich on a spinach tortilla. I took another piece of cheese and colored it blue and then used a knife and roughly cut out some continents and placed it on top of the sandwich. I tried to make the blue uneven in an attempt to make it look more like water (you can find the coloring cheese technique here). The border is made of blueberries and Earth Cookies.
I had actually given her cucumbers too, but they quickly disappeared shortly after this picture:
I cut the cucumbers into circles, keeping with the whole the Earth is round theme, and I think it made them taste better ;) This lunch is so simple and Eliana ate it all up. It seems to be so much more fun to learn about things while you eat them. We spent lunch talking about Earth and all of the planets in the Solar System. We may just have to make a lunch for every planet :)
Those cookies are fabulous! I've never seen those before.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea with the tortilla and colored cheese too! :)
Love the earth made of green tortilla and cheese! Artistic as always :)
ReplyDeleteI love your earth and those cookies! Cucumbers disappear in our house too if left alone, hehe. Great lunch!
ReplyDeleteWonderful lunch! Where did you get the earth cookies?
ReplyDeleteKathy, if you look at the link under "What I used to make this lunch" you will see the link to the cookies. I found them at a random family grocery store a few months ago, but I haven't seen them at other stores, and I haven't seen them since.
DeleteWow, so creative, love ur earth. :)
ReplyDeleteI love this and I LOVE the pancakes you did too. You are amazing!
ReplyDeleteGreat lunch. My kids would have gobbled it up too!
ReplyDeleteLOVE it! So cute and colourful - and where did you find the cookies?
ReplyDeleteScratch that, I see the link :) Thanks!
DeleteAwesome! So cool! Love the colors!
ReplyDeleteSuper cute...definitely making this (although probably with cukes unless I stumble on Earth cookies!...thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun lunch! Amazing job :D
ReplyDeleteThank you all for the love!! I really love those cookies! (maybe more so than Eliana..) It was a JOYOUS day when I found these cookies! There are other shapes too (a sun, a hybrid car, wind turbine). I'm in love with them and I stumbled upon them in a random family supermarket a few months ago and snatched them up. I've have never seen them in other supermarkets, but I wouldn't know because I only go to the one closest one to us (Stop and Shop) :)
ReplyDeleteLove the whole layout of this lunch!
ReplyDeleteThanks Keitha!
Deletesuper cute! and love your coloring of cheese technique! total 'duh!' moment for me! :) thank you!!
ReplyDeleteLOL Gretchen, It was a "duh" moment for me too when I had found that tutorial! I use food markers to decorate on cheese, but to color an entire piece of cheese this is so much easier! :)
